Mandy, and the Train to Progress team, are incredibly proud to be suppporting EQUISS - an independent, not-for-profit organisation working to create a safer equestrian community across the UK and Ireland.
It provides free, confidential support and advocacy for anyone experiencing or concerned about harm, abuse or misconduct, while working across the industry to prevent harm, raise standards and drive lasting change.
Independent support and advocacy
EQUISS’ specialist safeguarding team is there to listen, help people understand their options and support them with what comes next.
EQUISS doesn’t just provide a listening ear. Through its advocacy service, the team can be there every step of the way – whether that means helping someone raise or report a concern, understand their rights and options, communicating with organisations on their behalf, or supporting them through safeguarding, disciplinary, legal or other formal processes.
EQUISS is independent of governing bodies and equestrian organisations, and people don’t need to know exactly what has happened or what they want to do next before getting in touch. Whether something has happened to them, they’re worried about someone else, or something simply doesn’t feel right, they can speak to EQUISS confidentially.

Driving change
Alongside supporting individuals, EQUISS works to prevent harm and raise standards across equestrianism. It develops equestrian-specific training and guidance, provides independent consultancy to organisations, and is working to establish clearer, more consistent standards for safeguarding, health and safety and workplace practices across the industry.
EQUISS also uses insight from its frontline work, alongside research and evidence, to identify where wider change is needed. By working with the equestrian industry, government and experts from other sectors, it aims to influence policy, improve practice and help create an industry where concerns are taken seriously and everyone can participate more safely.
Need support? EQUISS is here.
